Gender & Inclusion in Education (GENIE)
Context
The SDG4-Education 2030 Framework for Action aims to ensure equity and inclusion in and through education by addressing all forms of exclusion and marginalization, disparity, vulnerability and inequality in education access, participation, retention and completion and in learning outcomes. More specifically, by 2030, the world aims - among other targets - at “eliminating gender disparities in education and ensuring equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous people and children in vulnerable situations” (SDG 4, target 4.5). Gender equality and inclusion are vital in achieving these aims and leaving no one behind in the education agenda.
Objectives
The RCG4-WCA Task Team on gender equality and inclusive education was formed to contribute to enhancing equity in education in West and Central Africa, building upon the member organizations’ broad knowledge and expertise in gender equality and inclusive education in the region.
